Sometimes our children leave us no choice. We try to use rational parenting techniques, but kids aren't always receptive to reason. Eventually negotiations break down and new tactics must be used. The other night, my husband was trying to coax our son to brush his teeth. He kept stalling, so my husband resorted to motivation by fear. "No girl will want to marry you if your teeth are all black", he said. "If she's a pirate she will", he answered. He nonchalantly picked up his toothbrush.

LOL! That's priceless. Aren't they clever?? They never cease to amaze me with their intelligent retorts. When we see someone with bad teeth we usually whisper to our kids that they didn't take care of their teeth. You have to put the fear in them or you have no authority. ;)
