Happy New Year's!  I can't believe it's 2013.  "The future" has arrived and yet life is pretty much the same.  Oh well, maybe we'll get flying cars in 2014.

I hope you all had a wonderfully refreshing time with family and friends.  I sure did, and now it feels good to get back and what better day to come back than on the day of IWSG, founded and hosted by Alex J. Cavanaugh.  Join us in a cathartic release of fears and anxieties or share your tips and successes.  It's a wonderfully supportive group.  Just add your link to the linky list and then go visit all the other great entries.

For me New Year's always brings up the subject of goals.  I like to look back on what I accomplished the year before and make sure I'm always challenging myself to move further ahead in all aspects of my life.  I firmly believe in the old adage that if you don't have a map for your life you'll get lost along the way.  Getting lost can be ok occasionally, but I don't want to make a habit of it.

So here are my goals for the year:

Read at least 50 books (I tried for 60 books in 2012, but only got 43)
Finish editing Hidden Truth
Get back on the ice after ankle is fully healed and prepare to take my Gold level test
Get away from the computer at least one day each weekend.
Make sure our whole family sits down to a nice dinner together at least twice a week.
Complete an online Open Course from Yale.

And of course make time to visit more of my bloggy friends.

Did you have a nice holiday?  What are your goals for 2013?  Anything special planned?

Kathy :)

  1. Your goals are varied, which is cool. Variety is the key to life!

  2. What awesome goals! I wish you success in 2013!

  3. Go for gold! Great list, especially the dinner together. Sometimes that does seem impossible, doesn't it?

  4. That's a good list of goals. I hurt my ankle pretty badly last year, so I know all about the ice issues. It was a long haul for me, but it's back to snuff finally.

  5. I'm glad you have a plan for the year. Sounds great to me. 2013 will rock!

  6. Good luck with everything. I'm sure it'll be a great year for you! Good idea to focus on family time as well as more personal goals, too.

  7. Family dinners are so important. I love it when we all sit down together. The discussions are hilarious and laughter is so healing, this is my favorite goal. I'm copying it too!

    Happy and successful New Year!

  8. Those are good goals. Mine is just to get book two out. I don't make a lot of resolutions I can't keep and while I have other goals, I know they will sometimes fall by the wayside. Good luck!

  9. Kathy, your goals are nicely lined up. I wish you well. My main goal is to get a novel actually finished!!

  10. Reading 50 books? Oh, that is a dream. I hope to read 20. You go!

  11. Cool and interesting goals! I'm interested in that getting back on the ice one . . .sounds intriguing.
    Best wishes for 2013!

  12. Alex,

J.A., thanks, Happy New Year to you too!

T, yeah lately it seems we're all eating at different times.

    Rena, it's a real pain isn't it?

Miranda, hope your 2013 rocks as well!

Nick, thanks, hope your year is awesome too!

Yolanda, great I'm glad it inspired you. It is funny what the kids will say sometimes at dinner.

Mel, thanks. Good luck with your second book, that's a great goal. Hopefully I haven't bitten off more than I can chew!

Denise, thanks. I know you can accomplish that goal! :)

Ciara, well I use books on cd in the car wherever I go which helps bring up my number. When I'm driving with the kids we listen to YA books that they've picked out.

Tyrean, thanks. Other than writing my passion is figure skating, but I've been off for a month with an injury. Can't wait to get back on the ice.
